Protecting the Amazon from Corporations & Carbon Sinks

The world's governments are hoping to fight climate change by preserving the world's rainforests - because they act almost as a 'sink' for carbon - acting as the world's lungs and holding and storing carbon. But in many instances, the places that need to be protected are also found to have oil.
In Peru, the oil companies and the native people living in the Amazonian rain forest are colliding with sometimes deadly affects. Joining host Daphne Wysham is Trevor Stevenson of the Amazon Alliance. He discusses the recent UN World Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.
Then, we hear a first-hand account of what happens with native people and oil companies combine. Christian Brother Paul McCully describes the actions of Plus Petrol in Peru.
