Blue Green Alliances

Some would say that labor unions and environmentalists make strange bedfellows. But according to Leo Gerard, the president of the United Steelworkers, they're more like people who've been secretly dating and are now ready to go public.
On this edition of Earthbeat, we'll hear from Gerard as well as his 'date' Carl Pope, the president of the Sierra Club. Also joining forces with unions and environmentalsts is civil rights activst Van Jones. He strongly believes that green jobs could help inner city youth in extraordinary ways. And finally, we hear from Roger Toussaint, the president of the Transport Workers Union.
Talks aired on this edition of Earthbeat were recorded at the recent Take Back America conference in Washington, DC and the North American Labor Assembly on Climate Crisis in New York City.
