Putting the "No" in Snow

The East Coast is seeing one of the warmest winters on record, and climatologists say that with global warming -- the trend will continue.
It's a forecast that spells doom for the industries that depend on a winter wonderland. In this episode of Earthbeat host Mike Tidwell gets an overview of the East Coast ski industry. Steve Showalter is the Ski General Manager for Massanutten Resort in Virginia, and Brian Fairbank is the CEO and co-owner of Jiminy Peak in western Massachusetts, the first ski area to build its very own wind turbine. They work with the National Ski Areas Association on the 'Keep Winter Cool' campaign.
Auden Schendler, the environmental director for the world-famous Aspen Ski Company in Colorado joins us for an overview of the skiing industry. He charges his colleagues with not doing enough to combat global warming and calls on everyone who relies on winter sports to take up direct political action. Aspen is a leader in the 'Save Snow' effort.
Finally, we check in with Chris Barrett, a snowplow operator in Ontario, Canada. Chris is also known as 'Wyldman' on the Internet message board for snowplow professionals - Let's Talk Snow-dot-com.
