An Interview with the Controversial Director of NASA's Goddard Institute

This week co-host Daphne Wysham interviews Dr. James Hansen, Director of the NASA Goddard Institute and a respected climate scientist. Dr. Hansen has been calling attention to the clear, irrefutable signs of global warming, and recently made headlines when he revealed that The Administration was attempting to gag him. Dr. Hansen will discuss the current state of climate science as well as the muzzling of climate scientists within various US government agencies.

Daphne's interview will also feature Tom Devine, legal director of the Government Accountability Project, and a leading protector of whistle-blowers. Tom has directly represented, diagnosed or supervised over 2,000 cases of government or corporate "whistleblowers", during which he testified before Congress more than 50 times.

Study Links 700 Deaths Yearly to Md. Power Plants

The "Union's" Mistaken Direction on Oil and Maryland's Clean Air Act

[February 7, 2006] This week on Earthbeat, co-host Mike Tidwell takes the President to task for his misguided remarks on our country's oil dependence in his recent State of the Union address. Also, Mike reveals the very unholy alliance between the region's largest energy supplier, Constellation Energy, and the Maryland Dept. of the Environment. He reveals how this powerful corporation has colluded with the governmental body to undermine Maryland's Healthy Air Act. [A recent study by MaryPIRG found that Maryland's cities were among the most polluted in the country in regards to air quality.] Guests include Brad Heavner, State Director for MaryPIRG.
